About who needs care: My father in law is a sweet 80-year-old gentleman with early Alzheimer's. He doesn't drive so he needs someone to take him for grocery shopping, haircuts, and other small errands. He has three sons nearby who each see him at least one day a week, but we would like him to have some non-family companionship also. He loves to walk outside, but needs a companion for safety. He is able bodied, bathes and dresses himself, can heat his meals in the microwave. Very sweet fella :) About the care needs: His wife died in 2021 and he lives alone. I think he is just very lonely, though he won't often admit it. Doctors have said he needs to move to assisted living, but he does not want to. We are hoping to give him a little more time at home by having a caregiver come a few days a week to supplement the time that family is spending with him. He is very outgoing and social with new people! He enjoys having people visit him at home. No specialized skills needed, just companionship for him, willing to go on short walks around the neighborhood and take him for errands around town. Maybe cook dinner from time to time? Services needed include: transportation, meal preparation, errands / shopping, light housekeeping, and companionship.
