- Responsibilities of the teacher include but are not limited to: lifting and carrying children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, using arms, hands, legs and feet, with or without corrective devices. This includes the ability to respond quickly and safely during evacuation of the building in the event of an emergency. - Maintaining and following all applicable Department of Human Services regulations and requirements - Maintaining and following all applicable Keystone Stars Requirements - Creating and implementing lesson plans which are developmentally appropriate for the maturity of children in your care. - Carrying out daily classroom cleaning duties such as sanitizing and cleaning toys and daily care of classroom floors - Assisting children with handwashing, toileting and diapering in a manner consistent with our center's health and safety guidelines - Interacting with the children to support play, exploration and learning - Providing a balance between teacher directed and child directed activities - Supporting social and emotional development of children - Providing positive guidance by adhering to Sonshine's discipline policies and positive reinforcement policies - Maintaining daily parent communication of each child's activities and needs The Lead Teacher will report directly to the director, and they will work together closely to accomplish the dual mission of Sonshine: educational and spiritual growth within the classroom.
