Looking for a half time after-school nanny to work with our two kids, ages 11 and 8. They're fun, well behaved, and usually pretty easy, with one catch - the 8yo has a severe seizure disorder that requires any caregiver to be ready to switch into medical emergency mode at any time. Both parents usually work from home but mom travels regularly for work, so you would help make sure the kids have what they need (snacks, interaction and play, rides to local activities, a vigilant set of eyes) while mom and dad do what they need to do, and be a critical extra set of hands for dad while mom is traveling. On days we can manage the kid logistics ourselves, we would appreciate help with light household management and/or meal prep. Cannot emphasize enough the importance of the seizure aspect of this - if you've never helped someone through a tonic clinic seizure before, I'm sorry, but this is not the job for you. Once you're calibrated in the seizure part of things, there's opportunity for expansion into occasional later evening, overnight, or weekend care. It is very difficult to find confident caregivers in our situation, and we would love for someone to be spending enough time with us on a day to day basis to calibrate on the epilepsy stuff (trigger management, recognition of seizure types, seizure response) that we would feel safe doing an overnight getaway some day. Please note that yearly COVID and flu vaccinations are non-negotiable given the risk of especially bad seizures when youngest kiddo is ill. We will provide ample paid sick time. 11 yo: loves theatre (especially musical theatre), reading, Roblox, camping and hiking, crafts. Needs support with homework, executive function for chores and activities, logistical support for after school activities 8 yo: loves trains, trains, did I mention trains, monster trucks, robots, Minecraft, coloring. Needs support for epilepsy (both seizure avoidance and seizure response), play/social interaction opportunities for a kid whose physical activity and outdoor time is restricted for safety reasons Pets: One elderly dog (Lab mix) - very friendly, thinks he's a lap dog, slowing down these days Backyard chicken flock - not very smart, very entertaining, a great chore opportunity for the kids
