As a Nurse Midwife and a Firefighter, my husband and I have non-traditional schedules, requiring childcare a day or two per week to accommodate his rotating shifts. Responsibilities may include preschool drop-off/pickup, light house cleaning, errands, pet care, and meal prep. Caregivers must have compassion, patience, adaptability, communication, and empathy, while also being reliable problem-solvers who respect children's autonomy and dignity, ensuring their well-being and comfort with a positive attitude.
