I have obtained a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from the University of South Florida in Spring of 2017. After gaining some real world experience through playing numerous performances, I picked up teaching at a local high school in 2019, and from there have been wanting to make a difference in the world with my music and methods of learning. My favorite percussion instrument is the marimba. I enjoy playing video games and love Disney and theme parking. Overall, I'm a really great person to make a connection with. Formal Education: I received my High School Diploma at Countryside High School in 2012. Right after graduating I stayed 3 years at St. Petersburg College majoring in Music. Received my Associates degree. I then attended the University of South Florida for 2 years, obtaining my Bachelors Degree in Music Performance in May, 2017. In 2024, I returned to St. Petersburg College to further my education and receive a teachers certificate in order to teach in the public school system by 2025. Private Education: I began taking private lessons back as early as middle school. Met with a guy, whose name I can't remember, once a week to enrich my drumset skills. Most of high school was self taught skills for percussion as a whole. After high school I began taking private lessons with John Shaw, Principle Percussionist of the Florida Orchestra, at St. Petersburg College. In 2015 I then transferred to USF where I had taken lessons with Robert McCormick, who has had many years of experience with the percussive arts. Performing Experience: I've performed multiple times with the All-County Band Program in Pinellas County back in High School and Middle School. I have had lots of Marching Band experience as well as Winter Drumline performances at Countryside High School. Following those, I performed with the Wind Symphony and Percussion Ensembles at SPC. I've also performed solo works each semester while at SPC. During this time, I have played outside of school with reunion bands and for churches and duo groups as well as nonprofit organizations. I have performed with the Wind Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble at USF. Also performed a Junior Recital and an hour long Senior Recital which was streamed live unto social media. I currently play with the Dunedin Concert Band where I was the featured soloist on Marimba in October of 2022. I am also active with the Richey Community Orchestra playing various percussion instruments each concert. I have recently placed 3rd in the 2023 American Soloist International Music Competition for my Marimba performance! I also host my own percussion ensemble over summer through the Dunedin Music Society. Experience Teaching: I've been teaching all of my life. Numerous students wanted to learn certain aspects of percussion through my life thus far and I was willing to show them the art. I've also done ensemble teaching at East Lake High School in 2012, 2. I would love to help you perfect the art, or simply learn from scratch. I can help you learn how to read and write music and how to implement those learnings with the use of the percussive arts. Years of Experience: 10 Location Options: In Home Travel Radius: 20 Genres: Jazz, Classical, Country, Pop Age Groups: Young Adult Instruments Taught: Drum Lessons Overview: I have been playing and teaching drums for over 30 years. I spent many years performing with various Revolutionary War musical groups throughout the mid-west, playing both snare and bass drum. I also spent many years playing drum set for my community bands and local jazz/big bands. After high school, I went back to my school and volunteered teaching the drum line. While working with the drum line, I wrote or re-wrote much of the music given to the students. During that time, I also gave private lessons to students wanting to further their drumming craft. I'm confident I would be an asset to you and your company. I bring along many years of playing and teaching experience. Given this opportunity, I would love to help keep music in the schools alive.
