Our art projects will reinforce emerging skills as we work on letters, numbers, colors, fine motor skills, and creative expression. This thoughtful combination is designed to expand and stimulate our youngest student’s minds in a fun, art-rich environment. NOTE: We will follow the Winchester Public School Calendar. There will be no Messy Mushy Preschool Art on days when Winchester Public Schools are closed or on half-days. We offer after school pick up from Neighborhood Coop Nursery School at 12pm for students attending the half day NCNS program.

Pottery On the Wheel / beginning-intermediate level (ages 8-12)

This class is for beginning - intermediate level students. Beginning students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel including centering and opening to create bowls, cups and plates as well as how to trim and glaze their pieces before the final firing. Intermediate level students will be encouraged to take on projects that expand their skills while exploring individual creativity in clay. Projects may include working with larger pieces, more complex forms, creating sets, and experimenting with surface design. All students will have their own wheel for the entirety of the class period.

Let's have some fun on an early release day! Join our After-School Art Enrichment Program for the day as we create beautiful art in a friendly, supportive place. SPECIAL EVENT / DISCOUNTED PRICING: We are opening up our After-School Art Enrichment Program to drop-ins for the Early Release Day for a special rate of $90. This is a great opportunity to try it out and see for yourself if it might be right for your child. Find out more here: https://www.studioonthecommon.com/about-our-after-school-program SCHEDULE for the Early Release Day includes: - Snack (provided) - Lunch (please send with your child) - Outdoor play at Gin Park (weather permitting) - Teacher-led, structured art activities - Story time - Art Stations (at least 3 choices available each day and may include some of the following: cardboard construction; drawing, Legos, and Magnatiles) FOOD: Snacks and juice are provided. On Early Release Days (when the children arrive at 11:30am), we ask you to please pack a nut-free lunch for your child. We do not provide lunches. DROP-OFF: Drop off is at 11:30am on early release days. Please use the Art Studio entrance on Waterfield Road (directly to the right of the Pottery Studio). PICK-UP by 6pm: At pick up time, please use the Art Studio door. You may pick up your child at any time during the program. If you will be arriving for pickup before 5pm, please let us know at drop off or email us at info@studioonthecommon.com to let us know. We will be sure to pack up your child's belongings and get them ready for you to pick up.

Teens: Pottery on the Wheel

This class is open to beginning students who have never used a wheel as well as students with prior wheel throwing experience, looking to advance their skills. First time students will learn the basics of throwing on the wheel including centering and pulling walls to create bowls, cups and plates as well as how to trim and glaze pieces before the final firing. Experienced students will take their work to the next level: adding attachments like handles and spouts and carving and sculpting texture. All students will have their own wheel for the entirety of the class period. Course fee includes access to tools, clay, and glazes.
