At OHSU, we’ll walk with you to the Aerial Tram. We’ll ride up this feat of Italian engineering up to the top as the early sun reveals the city’s glowing colors. Once there, depending on sunrise timing and weather, we'll watch the sun crest the horizon, or check out the city views in the early morning light. After we ride back to the bottom, we'll tell you the story of the bridge and its quixotic lights, and orient you to the city whose east-west divider lies before us. The Aerial Tram was built in 2006 to connect the main campus of Oregon Health Sciences University with the new neighborhood of the South Waterfront. We will be joining students and medical staff on their daily tram ride!

When tour guests asks us, "what one thing should I not miss in Portland," we pick the 5-mile (8-10 km) hike in Forest Park. No matter what the season, hiking in the park is entering another world right on the borders, and through the fabric, of the city. PLEASE NOTE THIS HIKE HAS 900 FT ELEVATION GAIN We offer two departures, both with varied terrain and about 900 ft (300 meter) elevation gain. The classic hike is focused around a Northwest Portland experience, and ends at the International Rose Test Garden (when in season), the Forest Park Experience at 9 a.m. We have limited 1:30 p.m. departures. Once weekly, we offer an afternoon hike that starts at Goose Hollow, through neighborhoods and up into the park (2:30 p.m.). Both pass iconic spots; Japanese Garden, Pittock Mansion, and Witch's Castle; but take a different approach to the forest. In Forest Park—within minutes leaving the street—you can forget, or wonder at the fact that you are still in a city.

The Oregon Coast is an experience like no other and our guides have selected a quieter, slower approach to the day: a visit to Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach; hikes through old-growth forests to views beyond what the common tourist sees; up-close encounters with the iconic monoliths that make the Oregon Coast so unusual; a lunch stop in a sweet beach town; recommendations for our favorite cinnamon rolls, pie or ice cream; sand (if you want it) between your toes. Day tours can feel long but ours feels more like a just-right exploration with plenty of time to sit however you like with the majesty of the ocean -- or spend most of your time wandering in the forest as you listen to waves crash beneath you. If you choose to walk with us in the forest, your day will include some short but steep low-elevation incline hiking.

Not only is your guide, Rebecca Lexa, a certified Master Naturalist, but she literally wrote the book on nature identification--The Everyday Naturalist: How to Identify Animals, Plants, and Fungi Wherever You Go (Ten Speed Press, 2025). Questions are welcome and encouraged, so bring your curiosity no matter your age!

Wacky Walks in Portland is a royal themed scavenger hunt done using an app on your phone! During the game you will hunt for items around the city to gain points. Another way to earn points is by completing wacky challenges. There will be a King or Queen amongst your group in which you will compete for throughout the course of the game. The objective of Wacky Walks is to gain as many points as you can and hold on to your King/Queen title for as long as possible. Wacky Walks is not timed, so you can take as long as you'd like to complete it and can do it in any area of the city you choose. And we couldn't cover chocolate without the roasted seed of our other favorite tropical berry: coffee! Portland is known as the heart of the craft coffee roasting world, with so many small roasters, coffee lovers that we are, we struggle to taste them all. Our tour hits both the well-known highlights and some of the secrets of the chocolate scene, with a few surprises we don't want to give away. The tour in total is about 2.0 miles (3.5km), mostly flat walking, with tastings of chocolate and coffee -- just the right amount so you'll have the opportunity to truly savor every sip and bite!
