Home away from home is the special care that I give the children in my daycare versus the quantity of children you may see in others. I went to Penn State University as an Education major and worked for the child development counsel. The counsel had 27 daycares involved with it. It was a great experience growing and learning with all the different types of age levels of the children and their different personalities. I've been very fortunate to have some of the most wonderful families and their children with me. I've watched them grow from birth until they began school. We do circle time, begin to learn how to read or keep on task with reading and math by playing games. In my home daycare, there is a balance of learning and a lot of fun. We love to do crafts in my home. Crafts are our favorite. Watching kids create their own art is the most rewarding lesson for them and for me because they learn so much through art with colors, shapes, sizes and fine motor skills. When we're not in the pool, are favorites are fun exercising, playing in our big front yard, or maybe taking a nice walk around the neighborhood for a field trip. We also do quiet time to rest and pick a movie or a book to share and take time out. I think it is really important for a great relationship to have great communication between parent and caregiver. I try and let them know all details of their little one's day. I have had a background check. Their safety is important to me and for you. We are family here!

Children's School is a Christian child care center serving children age three through Kindergarten. In addition to our full-day care, we also offer a mornings-only Nursery Class for three- and four-year olds. Our center is licensed by the PA Department of Human Services and participates in Keystone STARS, a state-funded quality and retention initiative that rewards centers that go beyond minimum standards. Teachers prepare lessons using the state's Early Learning Standards to ensure that children are receiving a firm foundation that will benefit them throughout their educational career. Our Kindergarten program is registered with the PA Department of Education and features a curriculum that is in alignment with the West Shore School District. Kindergarten is a half day of instruction (morning) with custodial care provided in the afternoon. During the summer, we offer care for children up through sixth grade. Older students are housed in an adjacent building and participate in age-appropriate activities and off-site field trips. Students are served meals that are prepared on site, along with morning and afternoon healthy, nutritious snacks. Students may choose from one of two entrees for lunch, which, along with snacks, is included in the tuition price. We have a wide variety of part-time options available, along with our full-time care. Part-time options include two, three and four days a week as well as three, four or five mornings a week.

We believe that children learn best when they feel safe and are able to actively explore the world around them. Through a balance of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities, we strive to enrich a child's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development. We provide hands-on learning experiences through math, science, art and literacy activities in order to encourage children to become lifelong learners. We believe that in addition to being well-qualified early childhood educators, teachers should be trained and experienced in positive classroom management, to help children build problem solving and relationship skills. We know that quality early childhood and school-age programs value and actively promote a partnership with children's families. We encourage families to communicate with us regularly and stay updated on your child's daily classroom activities.
