About who needs care: Seeking a full time, live in caregiver for my brother. Someone who: Is compassionate, responsible. Speaks English, and experienced working with aphasia, verbal cognitive impairments, and dementia patients. Is kind, patient, and able to make smart decisions when necessary. Is a professional caregiver but acts as a friend and in time will be like family. Is caring, yet able to direct and guide my brother when needed. Instills structure and follows a daily routine to make things as smooth as possible. Cooks and can follow a suggested menu and prepare meals. Keeps up with light housekeeping, laundry (will have a cleaning person 2x/ month) Assists with shaving, grooming, dressing, and engages in communication in a manner best suited. Is clean, neat, reliable, trustworthy. Interested in sports, especially baseball, a huge plus. Would accompany him to gym. If you enjoy exercise, working out, another plus. He does not need assistance with standing, walking, bathing., but he does need help preparing for shower, to ensure the water is on right temperature, towel ready, have his clothes laid out, ensure he puts his clothes on properly, and is comfortable. Having him live in his home in the manner he is used to is our wish. He is a fit, 73 year old man who is in good health otherwise. He was a professional athlete who experienced numerous concussions which caused verbal aphasia and fast-forwarding dementia. He enjoys playing watching favorite tv shows, sports, playing pinball, socializing with neighbors, and being around friends and family. In return for being a caring, responsible caregiver, you would have your own room/ bath, food, meals, access to drive his car included. We will pay an agreed upon salary, monthly or biweekly. Would be a good situation for someone who has been a caregiver, meets the requirements and is the right fit. We are very close family and hope to find someone special to care and assist for my brother as things change. Must have a Valid DL. References and background check mandatory.
