Attracting and retaining the most talented employees is an ongoing challenge for any company — even the best and most sought-after workplaces. Companies like Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel site. Tripadvisor already offered employees a robust suite of benefits and company perks. It was highly regarded for its thriving workplace culture and commitment to employee health and wellbeing. But one thing was absent: a best‐in‐class care benefit. Seeing the value in care for every employee, Tripadvisor needed a trusted partner to meet the caregiving needs of its multi‐generational workforce.
Tripadvisor found that partner in Care for Business by Care.com. We worked with the company’s Global Benefits team to craft a custom care benefit that works across a diverse global workforce of Gen Zers, Millennials, Gen Xers, and Boomers. Most Tripadvisor employees now receive premium access to Care.com, where they can easily arrange care for kids, adults, seniors, pets, even their homes. Employees in certain countries also get 15 days per year of company‐subsidized backup care — a lifesaver for the times when (not if!) working parents need to arrange child care in a pinch.
At Tripadvisor, care isn’t a nice‐to‐have benefit. It’s a must‐have. “One of the things that we hear from our employees all the time is that the care benefit just really works for them,” says Beth Anton Grous, Chief People Officer at Tripadvisor. “It’s a time saver, it’s a trusted resource, and it allows them to make great decisions about how to balance their work and family obligations.”
Thanks to the new benefit, employees don’t have to worry about who will watch the kids when the nanny calls in sick, or who’s going to help dad after hip replacement surgery. They’re less stressed, more productive, and focused on delivering the best travel inspiration to customers. Care is another reason why Tripadvisor continues to attract and retain top talent. And, it’s paying off. Forbes named Tripadvisor #1 on its 2019 list of America’s Best Midsize Employers.
