Early Head Start is an early childhood, preschool readiness program. It is NOT daycare. EHS programs support the mental, social, and emotional development of children from birth to age 3. In addition to education services, programs provide children and their families with health, nutrition, social, and other services. Early Head Start services are responsive to each child and family's ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.
The Early Head Start program assists parents with very young children to take a lead role in their child s learning and development, to become their baby s first teachers, and to build positive family relationships.
