Schools are becoming more competitive every year. Parents and students must accept this simple truth when looking towards the future. In an economy where there is less opportunity than previously, students strive to distinguish themselves in everypossible aspect. In such a competitive atmosphere it is no longer sufficient to be adept in just one area of life, but rather a student must be proficient in many areas. They must approach life in a holistic manner, mastering academics and athletics, while developing social skills and a sense of self. This realization is what led me to found Dietz Tutoring. <br/>Through my personal experience, both as a student and a tutor, I realized that there was often rigidity between these different aspects of life for many students. When I sought to solve that problem with my own clients and friends I noticed a remarkable difference in their performance, not just in school, but in the rest of their life as well. Their personal relationships flourished; they were able to balance academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities; they grew as individuals. <br/>This does not mean that the process is easy. It will take hard work and commitment from your student to achieve this type of balance. Instead of looking at life and asking “How can I do this or this?” they can ask “How can I do this and this?” Learning time management and personal responsibility is becoming increasingly important as there are more tasks to complete in what seems an ever shorter day. <br/>Students are no longer only competing with the other kids in their class, but rather with kids in classrooms in Germany, Australia and China. When the goal is college admission, students need every edge they can get. Focusing on each aspect separately prevents a comprehensive mindset, an invaluable tool in gaining a competitive edge.
