Up until June 2014, for 12 years, I had been employed as a school psychologist in Delaware County working with special needs children and young adults (ages 3-21). For the past 2 years, I have been privileged to provide home care services to two families, each part-time but with overlapping days. The 3 children initially ranged in age from 1 to 3 years. They are currently 3 to 4 1/2 with the addition of a new sibling who is 8 months. One family will be transitioning out at the end of August and I am looking to offer my services again. My broad experience as a caregiver in many roles has prepared me well for my current job in the field of home-care and allows me to remain at home for a few years caring for my own two children. With all of my varied experiences, I have held many responsibilities in regard to direct care but have also been able to have fun and be creative. My favorite activities with children are cooking/baking, arts and crafts, reading and outdoor walks/runs. I have previously been certified in CPR and First Aid through my current job and have also had all the necessary security/background checks. I also have a clean driving record. In addition, my training as a school psychologist has given me a strong background in child development, behavior management, and social skills. I believe strongly in learning through play and child-directed play in order to develop their creativity and independence. In providing a safe and nurturing environment for my own daughter and son, I would do the same for any child in my care. A resume and references can be made available upon request.
