About Zaynab

Hi there, my name is Zaynab but you can call me Zay :) I've been helping care for my 98-year-old grandmother, off-and-on, for the last 4 years. I've also been a babysitter for 13 nieces and nephews at different times in their lives, as I've been an aunt since I was 7. I recently returned from living in Melbourne, Australia for 10 months. While living there, I completed a Certificate III in Individual Support at Southern Cross Education Institute. It was a rigorous, 8-month program followed by a 3-week, 120-hour clinical placement at a nursing home. My grandmother has been an incredibly powerful presence in my life that has shaped me into the person I am. I would care for others the way I want her to be cared for. I think it is an honor to take care of our elderly, disabled, and other vulnerable populations. It makes me feel a deep sense of purpose, like I'm doing something that actually matters. It fills my cup. Not that waitressing doesn't matter! It's just time for a change.
