About Zakiya

There's nothing like the expression of joy on a child's face when they accomplish a goal or experience something new in the world. Being apart of these learning experiences whether they are big or small is what I find cherish-able. During the past couple years I have had worked and contributed in early childcare centers, not only at UConn's Child labs but also in my hometown. I have also volunteered at Head Start at Windham High school where I was assisting the head teachers and interacting with the students, I have spent many of my hours in classrooms with different environments. Now that I have graduate with my B. A in Human Development Family Sciences and specialization in Early Childhood Development, I am hoping to apply my knowledge and skills about child development and positive classroom practices into my career choice. I hope to support and advocate for children inside and outside the classroom environment.
