About Yan

About Me Hi! I'm Ms. Yan. I've been working with children for many years and I led a toddler Montessori classroom for 5 years and have been AMI Montessori certified since 2020 in both the 0-3 and 3-6 levels. I now run a small home-based Montessori program where I hope children feel safe, loved, curious, and free to learn at their own pace. I love doing all kinds of things with children, not just Montessori work! We play instruments and sing, garden and cook together, explore nature, make art, read stories, or have group language lessons. I taught Mandarin for about 10 years, from elementary school through college. Early in my career, I worked full-time for two years with a wonderful Jewish family with four children, from a newborn to 7 years old. I helped care for their newborn for a whole year and supported their 3-year-old with special needs for two years. I loved playing piano, doing arts and crafts, learning about Jewish festivals, and discovering new things together.
