I have worked with the older adult and mentally challenged population most of my life by going to the nursing home that my mother worked at after school and schooling. When I graduated with my undergrad in Social Work, I was able to work with adults with mental illness, by providing community support. Working with this population gave me the skills to provide support in attending doctor appointments, engage in medication management and monitoring , assist with grocery shopping, support with navigating the community and establish a therapeutic relationship to address the mental health barriers that were preventing them from engaging in society. Many of clients my were a range of ages and feel that my experience as a social worker has provided me the skills needed to give the best care possible for your loved one.
