Caregiving to me is a calling, not just a job. I will treat your loved one with the same love, dignity and respect I would my own mother or father. I will honor the guidelines of your family. I cared for a couple in their 90s for 3 years. My main observation in that 3 years is this: the most important need of the client is being present-assurance that they're not alone and everything is okay. Plus, we enjoyed each other's company which promotes homeostasis. I observed many caregivers who would show up, do their duties then retreat to their screens. That's not me. I'm happy to do required chores but not to the detriment of being present with the loved one. As a certified medical coder, I have studied anatomy and medical terminology. I have excellent references upon request. Ps-my rates vary with the length of the shift
