Hello moms & dads! My name is Wendy and I am a reading tutor, certified to administer the Wilson Reading Program. I began my journey in 2013 as a frustrated and desperate parent of child who had been struggling for years in school with limited reading abilities and processing issue. Hoping to learn how to help my child, I reached out to the Wilson Academy and began training in their systematic, intensive, and focused approach to teach the structure of the English language and total word structure for decoding and encoding. Since then, I have privately tutored many students and I am super proud of the success we have had together improving their reading skills! The Wilson System is the core of my lessons, each session designed to meet my student where they are, and I also implement games & fun activities to keep them engaged.

I mentored Wendy when she was doing her practicum for Level I certification. We worked together for a bit over a year. It was my responsibility to advise and observe Wendy's work with her student. During that time, she came to my office with her student on five different occasions. She also had to complete online coursework. Wendy did a wonderful job. I was impressed with her thoroughness, professional approach, and rapport. I found her to be intelligent, hardworking, and very responsible.
