About Valerie

Hello! My name is Val and I received my Masters of Arts in Teaching 2016 from the University of Puget Sound. I left the classroom after a few years working as a 2nd and 4th grade teacher and have since worked in retail and local nonprofits. I also trained as a Behavior Technician and worked specifically with elementary-age autistic kids. Prior to my career in education, I worked with families with multiple children ages 18 months-12 years, have been a sports camp counselor, and also coached varsity basketball at a local high school. I am passionate about centering relationship building, social emotional learning and regulation, creative expression, nature, and movement with the kids I get to work with. In addition to teaching and childcare, I'm very experienced with providing dog, cat, and some small animal care. I'm a part-time student and am seeking up to 30 hours of work beginning in mid-September with families that are fully vaccinated for Covid.
