About Valerie

I was one of the main caregivers for my 2 elderly grandmothers before their passing. One grandmother had dementia and needed constant supervision and assistance with daily activities, all of which I provided assistance with. My other grandmother had Parkinson's disease & I assisted her with her daily activities as well. Between the 2 (who were sick & passed on different years) I spent about 2 years of making sure they were well taken care of. I believe that everyone should be treated well and not ignored just because they don't appear to understand or respond. It takes a lot of patience & understanding to help those who can't help themselves. I also spent some time in my past working as a hospice volunteer and being with the elderly who had no family to spend time with them. I also have a mentally handicapped sister who I have cared for for many years. I have 2 children, one of which is physically handicapped.
