Since the age of 4, I cared for my aunt who had downs amongst other diagnoses until she passed about 4 years ago at almost 60 years old. Her life expectancy was far surpassed because of the love and care she received from her parents and myself. We had a special bond, as I do with almost all special needs people I meet. Services included whatever she wanted or needed. Food prep, changing, bathing, attending appointments, medicine management, companionship, teaching and first aid as needed.
