My experience with the elderly started when I was 8 years old. I would help my neighbor with taking out the trash and helping her do things that she was incapable of doing. When I was 11, I volunteered at a nursing home in the dementia unit. I would feed them, paint their nails, walk outside with them, etc. In 2009 I worked at Community Hospital for 6 years as a Patient Support Tech. I was in a float position, so I worked a range of patients from the ER to ICU. I also worked for a year as a caregiver in their home. I had several patients with different needs. But I would make them meals, help with medication, bathing, doctor's appointments and etc.
