My experience starts with my mother suffering a major stroke on her left side. Her care was extensive for seven years. Along with my dad, we managed health care workers. Soon my mother-in-law suffered cancer and all caretaking that accompanied her diagnosis and hospice care. Soon after, my father-in-law lived in our home with dementia until we could no longer care for him in the home. I've truly experienced our parents as a sandwich generation participant.
