Since A was diagnosed as an autistic child, I was responsible for all aspects of his life in school and after school . Between the ages of 4 and 6, he was attending special school with one on one instruction and my active involvement in his IEP program has been one of the most important factors in his overall success. Then he was transferred to couple of different schools and as a 7. 5-year-old he started a regular elementary school. Finally, A is ready for serious liberal art, science, or music (piano) college and all aspects of fully independent life. My name is Tomasz and I live in Montclair, NJ and since A goes to college, I am expecting to have more time for work to share our great success story and help the others. My formal education comes from Poland Warsaw University and Warsaw University of Technology . Tomasz worked for me as a full time caregiver/assistant to my 20 year old twin sons diagnosed with autism this past summer and into the start of the school year. He provided full assistance with all aspects of self-care, meal preparation, laundry and household chores. He also engaged them in recreational activities such as swimming, hiking, rollerblading and dining out. He transported them safely to and from camp each day. He earned their trust and was able to communicate with them, with their limited language, all of their wants and needs. He used opportunities to incidentally teach them and would always attempt to illicit their use of language. Thank you Tomasz.
