About Todd

I am writing to recommend Todd as a personal care attendant. Todd provided 24 hour live-in care for my Father for several weeks in December 2014/January 2015 while my Mother was in a nursing home recovering from a stroke. My Dad has relatively advanced Alzheimer s and was dealing with an extreme amount of anxiety about being apart from my Mom for really the first time in their 61 year marriage. Dad couldn't express himself well in words, but Todd had a gift of connecting with my Dad because he could empathize with how he was feeling. Todd took the initiative to take regular trips with my Dad to the nursing home where my Mom was staying, and that gave both of my parents a great amount of comfort. Todd found that my Dad enjoys music and was able to figure out what type of music gave him the most pleasure. Todd even helped move my parents into a memory care unit and stayed the first couple of nights to help with the transition to the new apartment and the new staff. His kindness and familiar face helped my parents make a difficult transition, and helped me feel comfortable that I was doing the right thing in moving them. Caring for an Alzheimer s patient is in many ways like caring for an infant. You need to be present and watchful at all times, and that is something that Todd learned how to do very well while with my Dad, even at night when Dad would get up as many as 10-20 times to go to the bathroom. It takes a special kind of person to dedicate himself so completely to another person, and Todd has the compassion and skill to do so in a very natural way. A long time ago, I was a live-in personal care attendant for a man with quadriplegia for two years, so I feel like I have a good perspective on what it takes to do this kind of work. I highly recommend Todd as a personal care attendant, and I would strongly encourage you to interview Todd for any kind of similar job.
