From a young age I was drawn to children that have disabilities. When I was in elementary school I had an autistic buddy that I helped during class. In middle school I volunteered at a daycare and worked with a toddler with disabilities. During high school I helped prepare disable students for the Special Olympics. In college I worked with a nonverbal adult for three summers. After college I worked in hospitals with people with disabilities. Thru my many years of working with these children and adults I have gained a sense of how they view the world in a beautiful, but different way. I have always found it very rewarding. As a caregiver I have gained experience with working with multiple people at a time, multitasking, completing household duties, organizing activities, transporting and time management. Working in the hospital I have gained experience with personal care and hygiene, dressing, preparing meals, record keeping and maintaining a safe environment.
