About Thelma

Thelma started full-time with our family (40+ hrs / week) a little less then a year ago, taking care of our now 11 month old daughter from shortly after she was born. Our household was undergoing construction at the time and we were living in a rental. Due to complications in the project, we moved from temporary house to temporary house before finally returning home. Throughout this tumultuous period, Thelma was dedicated to looking after my daughter's needs, making her feel comfortable in each new surrounding and quickly identifying solutions for her day to day needs. I cannot imagine having done this without Thelma's support. Shortly thereafter, when visiting my mother in New York, it became clear that her health was quickly deteriorating. Thelma was quick to volunteer her assistance, flying to a city with which she was unfamiliar, and staying with us for over a month taking care of my daughter, keeping an eye on my daughter and problem solving to help my family while my attention was otherwise occupied with my mother. I could not envision a more difficult time, and Thelma was there with us every step of the way, doing everything she could to contribute to the benefit of the household, all the while rightly prioritizing my daughter. Thelma is not a babysitter nor is she a housekeeper - she is family in the truest sense of the word. Needless to say my daughter adores her, they have a special bond, and we wholeheartedly trust her judgment and ability. It is with great pleasure that I recommend Thelma to any family that is lucky enough to work with her.
