NO recommendation letter can possibly capture the blessing Teuila’s been these last three years, as she helped all of us navigate the progressively rough waters of Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Teuila’s arrival brought to a close years of endless streams of caregivers, ranging in skill level from “really good” to “needs work,” both as private hires and via agencies, in our never-ending struggle to secure dependable, top notch care for a wonderful man with a tough diagnosis. Honest, hardworking, intelligent, dependable, loyal, kind, funny, decent, adept, trust-worthy, conscientious, professional, and GIFTED at defusing situations, Teuila was MASTERFUL at keeping our loved one feeling safe and happy, redirecting when appropriate, and helping him be at ease. Teuila demonstrated respect at a level all people deserve but rarely receive, and was committed to maintaining the dignity of our loved one. She never talked as though he wasn’t in the room, and assured he was never made to feel uncomfortable about accidents or missteps, but she was SO MUCH MORE than that! Unbelievably, she kept a man who was capable of getting out of a reclining chair and hurting himself in a myriad of ways and in a blink of an eye “safe,” while always making him feel like HE was in control. I cannot possibly say enough good things about Teuila; the day she first started was the day my life became exponentially less stressful — she’s just that EXCEPTIONAL. Snap her up, because now that she’s on the market, she won’t be for long. She’s an incredible caregiver who is in an absolute league of her own.
