As a tutor, communication and personalization are key. In helping students become well-rounded, identifying blind spots is just as important as highlighting their strengths. I began tutoring in middle school, helping friends. By highschool, I essentially had my own tutoring business assisting with everything from learning difficult math processes, to preparing for presentations, to constructing a solid persuasive essay. Through highschool and college, I was a consistent tutor for several students: some of them had specific problem areas, while others just needed someone other than their parents to be accountable to in their studies. Writing: I believe in enhancing a student's individual voice: when their own voice and style shines through they can be most proud of their work. I use visual representations of the process of presenting a convincing argument. I took a hiatus from Care. com, but have been using it for years and can provide references.
