About Teka

Hello! My name is Teka (like "tea-kuh"), I am 32 years old. My working years have primarily been focused around children and non-profit work, whether that's working as a nanny or combining both non-profit work with work with children (0-12) and teens. I am also minoring in family and human development. I am someone who likes to spend time outside, work with my hands and use curiosity as a tool to learn more about myself and others. I love to care for my own household (I. e., cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.) and put just as much effort into the homes of those I work for. I believe in teaching children the importance of independence (while also having the consistency of a trusted caregiver). I enjoy instilling affirmations and confidence and I think it's important to create space for play (especially outside!). Being around children has allowed me space to be a kid again but also to care for and support another family and the children growing up in my own community.
