Currently working as a Senior Engagement Companion and Specialist. I take seniors with dementia on outings - facilitating interactions that align with their interests and bring them joy, through exercise, music, animals, children, art, nature and senior center activities. I have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, but I put my career on hold to raise children. With each stage of childhood, came re-evaluation of a return to work. But the evolving challenges of a child with developmental delays and the rewards of flexible volunteer work, justified our single income lifestyle. I have many years of volunteer experience with special needs communities (adults and children) with physical and intellectual disabilities. I've worked with children who have ASD and developed custom tools to teach skills of independence and social protocols.
