About Tammy

Hello fellow critter lover! My name is Tammy. I currently reside in Corning, CA, I love animals, and I love helping others! My schedule is very flexible. I am very creative and compassionate (and not afraid to get dirty!) I care for others and animals using a firm demeanor when necessary, but also use a gentle touch and proper training methods. I specialize in handling dogs - mainly leash training, crate training, and certain behavioral issues such as food aggression and socialization. I've owned: Doxies, Chi-weenies, American Bulldogs, American Staffordshire Terriers, Pit Bulls, a Boxer (I nursed him back to health after he contracted Parvo), and temporarily homed and rehabilitated numerous rescue mutts of all types, sizes and personalities. I belong to the ASPCA and HSUS, and I currently volunteer at our local Animal Shelter, which is focusing on rehabilitating and re-homing Pit Bulls, as well as properly educating communities about the breed. I also currently have a breeding population going on in my home for fresh water species, as well as owning a spectacularly lovable rescue mutt named Mr. Peppercorn. I've used him as a sire before, and whelped and nursed the subsequent litter of pups. (One puppy was born breach and still-born by the time I could get him safely out, but I was able to resuscitate the lil' guy!) "Pepper" has been properly crate and leash trained and socialized by myself, and has turned out to be a great therapy dog, as well as a great help in training other dogs with behavioral issues. In addition to dogs, I've raised pigeons, mice, frogs, rats, hamsters, cats, birds, reptiles - you name it! (Except for farm animals). Right now I am rehabilitating a male Savannah Monitor Lizard which I have adopted. He's getting well-socialized by lots of handling, he's able to be hand-fed now, and getting bigger every day. (He now reaches about 2 feet long!) I plan on going back to college soon to pursue an education in Veterinarian care, and would welcome any opportunity to gain more experience!
