Tammy and I met when we moved into a house across the street from her family. Shortly after, my parents moved to a nearby assisted living facility. I’d just had foot surgery and needed a buddy to help with momma and daddy while I recovered. The facility’s staff wasn’t set up for the one-on-one care that momma, who was in a wheelchair, and daddy, who had dementia needed. I needed help! My parents had always been very resistant to having anyone that wasn’t family come to assist. And I was determined not to put daddy in memory care. I had no idea how incredible Tammy is until I watched her walk in and become another member of our family. She has an amazing, sweet gentle spirit with a great sense of humor. I can tell you she is patient, kind, loving, protective, caring, devoted and still not scratch the surface. She instinctively knows when to jump in and when to be still. She became a part of my parent’s lives during such a difficult time, and her being there improved their lives in so many ways. She was there for our family and has remained a treasured friend.
