About Sylvia

We hired Sylvia to help care for our mom, who was a three-time cancer survivor and showing early signs of dementia. Based on her resume, she shared that she had experience working with dementia patients and was comfortable preparing meals, which gave us confidence moving forward. Unfortunately, as our mom’s cancer returned, her dementia symptoms became more pronounced, including mood swings. Sylvia seemed to struggle with these challenges and at times appeared to take them personally, which made the situation more difficult for everyone involved. When our mom later contracted COVID and was hospitalized due to her compromised immune system, we were hopeful for continuity of care once she recovered. However, after our mom tested negative and was discharged, Sylvia informed us that she had accepted other work, without prior notice or communication. This left our family in a very challenging position, needing to urgently find alternative care. As a result, our mom was left without assistance for transportation to her cancer injection appointments during an already overwhelming time. While we understand that caregiving can be emotionally demanding, clearer communication and advance notice would have made a significant difference for our family.
