About Susan

I enjoy how children think in concrete ways. I like working with kids because they ask questions and enjoy attempting things. Small children continue to repeat until they get it. I respect that. I am the oldest of 6. I can't remember when I started helping. I babysat twins, a handicapped child and many others. At university I earned a science degree and a teaching certificate. I then went to teach abroad and returned to do genetic research. I have taught from elementary school to university classes. In my spare time, I like to garden and read. I am a volunteer for senior citizens. I take exercise and Spanish classes. One thing you should know about me is I am curious. I ask questions. Learning is important. I am learning Spanish. Instead of an immediate no I try to give choices. Listening and involving the child in decisions is important to me. I like teaching reading and I feel it is still a needed skill. Playing with children or giving ideas for games is fun and easy for me
