Susan (Susie) was my moms caretaker for 3 years. Caring for an elderly person requires not only patience but a sense of humor as well. In addition to being needy (and sometimes cranky) elderly folks have to deal with the sadness of aging, losing their eyesight, hearing, mobility or in many causes all of the above. Susie brought joy to my mom everyday in little acts of kindness, not only polishing her nails, but purchasing the exact color mom liked to wear. Knowing how much mom like lemon pie, many days Susie would show up with a lemon pie refusing payment for it. She found little ways to brighten her day, yet at the same time provide excellent care. Preparing or warming up her meals, overseeing that she ate well. Administering her eye drops 4-5 times a day as needed, continually replacing her hearing aid batteries. In addition to diligently making sure she was taking her medications. Susie was very much aware of what was needed in the household and would promptly let me know what those needs were. I always felt that mom was in the hands of a capable, loving individual. It was obvious that Susan truly enjoyed her work.
