I have worked years with special needs individuals. My cousin who is know 13 was diagnosed with autism when he was 3 years old. Since that time, I helped take care of him every summer for three years. Then in October, I meet a wonderful special needs 3-year-old, and became his PCA. I spent every Friday with him for 10 hours. Until this month, because his father had use it or lose it, vacation time and money was tight for them. Now, I'm a caregiver and I work in the Dementia unit. Everyday, I grow closer to these wonderful people and help them deal with emotions and show them love. I help them walk and get into bed. I help them eat and I clean them up. I also do activities with them. I love reading, writing, singing, drawing, learning new things, dancing, laughing, and taking care of people. I've always been a mother hen. I'm confident to know that caring for people is my calling!
