I have experience with children up to age 12. Before that, I've been a nanny for multiple families. This included four years of working with children on the autism spectrum. I've assisted children with socialization, self-help, and communication skills (through verbal imitation) working alongside their parents. My hobbies include doing volunteer work. In high school that meant volunteering for Big Brother/Big Sister helping children with their homework. In college I volunteered helping differently able children get horse riding therapy. Most recently that included being a volunteer Rape Crisis Counselor. My goal has always been finding ways to be service. In my free time I also love reading books, music, spending time with family/friends and road trips. I find working with children a true privilege and hope to continue doing so. Stephanie was the first caregiver for my newborn boy-girl twins 7.5 years ago. She was so calm and caring with them, and made leaving them to go back to work when they were 3 months old feel far less scary, since I knew they were in good hands. Stephanie was willing to do whatever we asked of her without hesitation -- including saying yes to cloth diapering twins! She helped wash their bottles, took them for walks in the stroller around the neighborhood, read to them, and did tummy time activities with them. Stephanie decided to move out of the area after she graduated, or we would have been overjoyed to keep her with us. I don't know how we would have gotten through those first 14 months without her! Hire her up quick, before someone else snatches her up!
