About Sophia

Sophia cared for my daughter from July 2024 to October 2025. While she was generally attentive with her childcare responsibilities during that time, several concerns arose that ultimately affected our working relationship. I was flexible and generous with time off and schedule changes; however, this generosity was often taken advantage of. Over time, Sophia became increasingly unreliable, with frequent absences and last-minute changes that disrupted my own work and family routines. I also found it difficult to provide feedback. Even when addressed respectfully, she tended to become defensive or upset, creating tension and making it uncomfortable to have important conversations. On her final day, she left without saying goodbye to me or my daughter, which felt unprofessional after such a long time together. After her employment ended, Sophia reached out several times regarding payroll and contract misunderstandings in ways that felt unnecessarily confrontational, including threatening to go to the police, over a timing issue with her final paycheck and disputing paid time off balances. Overall, while there were positive moments in the care she provided, I would encourage future employers to be mindful of communication needs, expectations around reliability, and boundaries around time off when considering Sophia for a nanny role.
