About Sonia

I'm a SAHM to 4 kids, and I home school two of them, plus I work from home as a writer about 20 hours a week and I volunteer. I'm super busy, so I decided to hire a housekeeper to do our laundry and some light cleaning once a week. I interviewed Sonia and showed her all around my house. I asked her how much she charges, and she didn't answer. She asked me how much I was offering. I asked if $15 per hour was okay for the laundry, and I would pay her $180 to do a deep cleaning once a month. She agreed. I was super excited to have a clean house and all my laundry done! She started today, and she quit after cleaning my house one time. She said my house was disgusting and she never wanted to come back. I just stood there, dumbfounded, then turned around and wrote her a check. I asked if she wanted more money. She said there was no amount of money to get her to stay. Then she told me that she normally gets paid $30 per hour and she wouldn't even clean my house for that because it's "disgusting." Mind you, her profile says $15-20 per hour, and she had agreed to my offer of $15/hour at the interview after seeing the whole house. She wouldn't even answer me when I asked how much she charges! I felt so horrible after she left. I honestly don't think my house was that bad. Of course it was messy. That's why I was paying her to clean it. But there's not globs of food crusted to the counters or bodily fluids spread all over the bathroom. We don't have mold or mildew or vermin running around. It's just a normal house with kids. We have toys all over the place and a lot of laundry, but we are not "disgusting." What's worse is that she said these things in front of my daughter. And she claimed that she was being kind by telling me the truth instead of making up an excuse for not coming back. I don't enjoy leaving a review like this, and I hope Sonia is able to make a living in another job. But I think people should be aware of this before they decide to hire her. She is extremely judgmental, and she expects your house to already be clean when she arrives.
