Hi! I'm Somer!
I am a Registered Nurse at Duke University Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. I graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I am located in the Cary/Morrisville area. I have over 8 years of childcare experience with all ages and an extensive list of references that I would be happy to provide. 
I am open to occasional/date night babysitting, pick ups/drop offs, pet sitting, house cleaning, running errands, organization, laundry, dishes, meal prepping, tutoring, etc.

Somer watched our 1.5 year old last May for two weeks full-time while we were visiting family from Brooklyn. Our toddler was super happy spending time with Somer while we worked during the day and we loved having her as part of our family while we were away from home. We recommend her enthusiastically and without reservation.

Somer was at all times communicative, punctual, and focused on safety and age-appropriate activities. She informed us of her plans for each day, asking for our feedback and ensuring that we were comfortable with any travel to nearby parks and playrooms. Somer was loving with and attentive: she engaged gently and joyfully with our son and facilitated lots of fun, age-appropriate activities (reading, art projects, singing, free play, and plenty of playground time and walking practice). She ensured that he had a variety of fresh, whole foods and flagged any concerns with us timely. She was a trusted part of our team and our son adored her!

Somer is dependable, personable and reliable. She is great with my little ones and very engaging. Every time she has babysat for us, I have come home to my house cleaner than it was when I left. I would trust her anytime and recommend her to anyone!

Somer takes excellent care my two daughters. She always has a fun activity planned and makes them healthy and delicious meals. She down to earth, helpful, reliable and hardworking. A wonderful role model for my two young daughters.

Somer babysat my two daughters from the time they were both newborns until they started daycare full time. They are now 2 and 4 and we still call on her for date nights and on an as needed basis. She is great with children, she is very attentive and interacts with them consistently. She is very creative and always full of new craft and educational activity ideas. She is always willing to get the girls out of the house and take them to do fun things. Her background in nursing school helps a ton in making my husband and I feel safe and comfortable leaving our girls with her.
Additionally, Somer also helps out with meal prep as well as housekeeping even without having to be asked. Our girls love her and so do we!!

Somer helped me with remote learning for my two kids while we were dealing with the pandemic. She was great with the kids! She went over their lesson plans and gave them snack and also "recess."  It was a relief to have help as we had just had a third baby.

Somer was very easy going.  She answered all of our calls while she was here will the kids.  She showed up on time and stayed a bit longer when needed.  Our children were well taken care of and schedules were followed. Somer is very kindhearted and loves children unconditionally.  She was the best.

Somer was extremely organized for our interview. Her answers were thorough. She clearly had a lot of experience working with kids. She was enthusiastic and quickly provided an abundance of good references.

Somer was incredibly personable and jumped right in the minute she arrived.  She engages with the kids and was up for whatever our day entailed.  I have zero concerns when she is with my 3 children.  They love being with her!

Somer worked for me and watched my 3 year old and infant. She was exceptionally good with both of them and managed the two of them with ease! My 3 year old really looked forward to her coming and she was very active with them! I would hire her again in a heart beat and trust her completely! She was a good communicator and was never late.

We interviewed and hired Somer 2 months ago to replace our current nanny who is sadly moving this weekend. Somer was supposed to start working for our family in 4 days. We discussed hourly rate at the initial phone interview and it is clearly stated on my job post in more than one place. She has been unreachable this past week to discuss upcoming details and she never followed through with shadowing our current nanny. Last night I receive a text ( not even a phone call) stating she is reconsidering because she currently makes more money. I really wish I had known this when we hired her as now I am scrambling to find childcare. I am still
blown away by how she handled this entire situation and am warning others to reconsider before hiring her.
