Experience: 3 yrs
Nurturing children's growth and making a positive impact on their lives are my passions. For the past three years, I've cared for children aged newborn to 11 years old. I am comfortable caring for up to four children. My goal is to provide a safe and stimulating environment. I enjoy playing outdoor sports, board games, and educational games. I also support learning through crafts. I have First Aid Training and CPR Training. I also have Early Child Development Coursework. I am happy to help with cooking, light housekeeping, and carpooling. I respect your household rules and communication preferences. Patient, creative, and friendly are words others use to describe me. I look forward to bringing my calm energy to your family.
We hired Sofia for weekly 9 to 5 childcare while my wife and I worked from home. She started off very strong. She was proactive about messaging us, responded quickly, was easy to schedule with, and made herself available to meet right away. She also told us she was looking for a long-term position, which was exactly what we needed. Her first few days with us went smoothly, and she actually did a good job caring for our child. We both work from home so she had full help and support. She was actually amazing with the child and they played well together. We paid her for the full scheduled days, including his nap time, and felt that we had established a good arrangement. We got along well. Sofia let us know that she had a vacation already scheduled for the following week. While it was a little inconvenient so soon after starting, we completely understood that trips can be planned before accepting a new job, and we managed to find another sitter to cover that week. Unfortunately, on the Friday before her vacation, after only four days working with us, she called out due to a sudden illness. This put us in a difficult position since we were both working, but we managed to make it work and had to find a sitter for that day as well. The bigger issue came after her vacation. She was scheduled to return Monday but simply did not show up. She did not call, respond to our texts, or answer our calls. After initially being very responsive and communicative, she completely ghosted us and left us unexpectedly without childcare. This put us in yet another bind and had to scramble for a third time to find a replacement. It was especially disappointing because she had started off so well and seemed to be a good fit while she was actually here. However, reliability and communication are incredibly important when someone is caring for your child, particularly when both parents are depending on that person in order to work. Based on our experience, we unfortunately cannot recommend Sofia for families looking for consistent, dependable, long-term childcare. We wanted to give her a chance since she was so young, but unfortunately it ended up biting us. Three times in two weeks we had to find a last minute sitter.
