As an Speed Paraeducator Itinerant, I worked with a child who has Spina Bifida. I assisted her with toileting and catheterization, also help teachers by performing a variety of tasks that promote the student learning and well-being. As a preschool childrens educator, I have worked with many children with special needs, including children diagnosed with Autism, Selective Mutism, speech delays, sensory integration disorder, and other physical and developmental delays. Other teachers often come to me with issues related to working with children with special needs, and together, we find positive solutions to unwanted behaviors, and focus on paths to allow children to learn. I have also had experiences working with an adult with CHARGE Syndrome. I work cooperatively with the parents and other caregivers in the team to help her achieve her goals. I have learned some basic ASL to communicate with her.
