I am patient, fun, and can be firm if need be, and have experience working with children with special needs, both in and out of the classroom setting. I was a lead teacher in an integrated classroom, but I have also been 1:1 aid for a special ed PreK child in an integrated classroom. As a 1:1, my duty was to to help my kiddo learn how to process and express his emotions in an appropriate way. Additionally I have worked at a SeriousFun. camp for children with life threatening illnesses and disabilities, for the past 7 years. It is like a second home to me. I also ran an after school theater program for young adults with special needs, including, but not limited to Down syndrome, autism, and PWS. I understand that every person learns and interacts with the world differently, but it is our duty to meet people where they are at.
