I've been a Certified Nursing Assistant since 2009, with over 16 years of experience in long-term care, rehab, memory care, respite care, and 13 years specializing in Alzheimer's and dementia care. I also have three years of leadership experience as a Director of Standards and Training/Care Manager and have proudly owned Extended Family Home Care since 2019.

Shonta is a highly skilled in-home healthcare provider and the best choice for your loved ones’ care.  We are beyond fortunate to have her full-time for our severely special needs brain damaged sister for the past 3 years. Our sister was bedridden and required full care for feeding, bathing, diapering, administering medication, and many other health needs.  Shonta’s level of professionalism, compassion, and expertise made a world of difference in our home. Shonta ensured that all medical needs were met with precision and accuracy. She is extremely reliable, arrives on time, and can adjust scheduling to meet your specific needs.   

She genuinely cares about people and displays a calm, respectful, positive attitude towards everyone, patients, and family members alike. The communication is always crystal clear, instructions are always followed, and her meticulous record-keeping throughout the entire time creates a detailed healthcare history journal for you to review all activities.   She is keen to notice the most subtle changes in  patients’ health or mood, and if necessary, will be careful to adjust comfort and care reasonably.  

Shonta and her team of licensed, vetted healthcare professionals provided an invaluable service for our family’s unique health situation,  24 hours a day, several days a week.  Having Shonta by our side was the best decision ever made for our sister.   Additionally, Shonta has assisted us with doctor appointments and hospital admissions and stayed with our sister at times when we had to be out of town for several nights.  Shonta and her team are extremely trustworthy.

Shonta and her care team have been an absolute godsend. She stepped in within days during a crisis with my dad and his wife, quickly assessing their needs and arranging full-time care. From medication and hygiene to transportation, doctors appointments, housekeeping, and being my eyes and ears on the ground, she’s gone above and beyond. Her genuine care for the elderly — especially those with dementia — shines through in everything she does. As someone managing things from out of state, I’ve found her communication, reliability, and compassion invaluable. My dad is less anxious, better cared for, and genuinely grateful — and so am I.

Shonta has been a true blessing to our family.  She is caring and compassionate. She goes above and beyond. I do not know what we would do without her.  She cared for my sick mom and disabled sister simultaneously until my mom passed.  She is a special person who is very passionate about her work and caring for your loved ones.  She has become part of our family. 

Shonta and her group of sitters began taking care of both my elderly parents in early 2021. Shonta is very dedicated to her clients, and is funny and sweet to them. My mom passed away in May, and Shonta has continued to care for my dad (who is 90 and has dementia). I can't imagine my dad's life without her. She takes him out to eat and to the park, and does other things to help make his life a little better. She prepares meals and helps with the housekeeping. My sister and I live several hours from our parents' house, so we can't do as much as we would like. She and the other sitters have been a blessing to us (and him), since we feel he should be in his home for as long as possible. I highly recommend Shonta.

I couldn't recommend Shonta highly enough! She helped my mom and took her to a doctor's appointment. Very knowledgeable, kind, and caring. We will most definitely hire again. She was such a blessing to our family!

I actually worked with Shonta years ago and I was so impressed with her care and dedication to her patients that I hired her to care for my loved one. Shonta is caring, hardworking,  punctual and is great at what she does. If needed, would definitely hire Shonta again.

Shonta has a caregiver's heart. She is a very conscientious person and goes out of her way to make sure her clients have everything they need. Wow! Shonta is amazing! I hired a few caregivers prior to finding Shonta and none came close. Shonta truly has a heart - a big heart - for what she does. She is joyful and patient. She loves what she does and it shows. She is walking in her calling. Shonta takes wonderful care of my mother. My mother adores her. She is extremely communicative with the family. She is creative in how she spends time with Mom. Yes she is punctual and dependable, always, but she also goes well above & beyond the expected care. She takes Mom on multiple "field trips". She treats my mother as her friend not as someone she cares for. She caters her care "style" to the individual. She is very capable handling difficult moments with Mom, calming her, and redirecting her. One of my favorite things about Shonta is her laugh. Shonta has been in our lives for over 2 years now. She has made this difficult stage in life of seeing a parent age much easier for our family. I cannot recommend Shonta highly enough.

Shonta  is absolutely the best home care professional I have ever known- and I would know because I've been a nurse for 37 years! Plus, my Mom adores her.
