About Sherry

Hello, my name is Sherry. I have volunteered with Alameda Health System for over six years, starting at Highland Hospital. Initially, I assisted patients in navigating the hospital during a hundred-day probation. Afterward, I was assigned to the step-down unit and later transferred to the med-surge unit. In July 2022, I helped establish a volunteer program at San Leandro Hospital, where I trained new volunteers in the med-surge unit. My responsibilities included teaching hospital protocols, stocking supplies, and assisting with patient care. I verify patients' dietary needs, assist with hygiene, and make regular rounds to check on patient comfort, especially for those at risk of falls. Additionally, I have two years of experience with In-Home Supportive Services for an elderly couple, where I provided care, ran errands, and managed medications. My experiences have deepened my commitment to compassionate care and teamwork within the healthcare community.
