I am a compassionate companion caregiver with a personal connection to senior care. I like caring for seniors because I see a great need for companionship, connection and engagement among our senior population, who often experience isolation and loneliness, even when living in a senior care community. I started caring for seniors when my mother moved to North Carolina in 2020. She had Alzheimer's, which progressed until her death in 2024. I volunteered as a weekend Bingo caller at the assisted living facility that she lived in. I got to know many of the residents there and would visit with some of them who didn't come out for Bingo. After my mother passed, I started volunteering with the Center for Volunteer Caregiving, through which I am paired with a home bound senior citizen that I visit on weekends..
