About Shelley

We have always struggled to find a caregiver our daughter truly feels calm and comfortable with. Due to multiple hospitalizations and frequent doctor visits early in her life, our 13-month-old has become understandably shy, hesitant, and fearful around new people. She typically cries around anyone she doesn’t know well. That’s what made our experience with Shelley so remarkable. From the very beginning, Shelley was incredibly patient and intuitive. She gave her the space she needed, while gently engaging her with songs, games, smiles, and her favorite little tunes. During Shelley’s very first three-hour visit, she surprised us by allowing Shelley to hold her three separate times, something we would have never believed possible. It often takes our daughter several days to warm up to close family members who travel long distances to see her, and even our friends at church need time to earn her trust. So to see her respond so quickly and positively to Shelley was truly amazing. Shelley also came over multiple times leading up to a five-hour event for my husband, helping build trust and familiarity. This gave us the confidence to leave her for longer than we ever had before. Throughout the evening, Shelley sent thoughtful updates, including sweet moments of them sitting outside together and enjoying time together. Even more meaningful, Shelley was able to feed her, which is something our daughter typically only allows with her parents due to feeding challenges. Shelley is calm, kind, gentle, patient, and flexible. We felt completely at ease knowing she was in her care, and more importantly, she was happy, comfortable, and safe. We feel incredibly grateful to have found Shelley and truly hope to continue working with her for occasional care. She is something special.
