I have worked in elementary school ASD classes for the past 6 years, providing support to children with a range of developmental, behavioral, communication & sensory needs. My experience includes assisting students with diapering and hygiene care in a respectful manner, helping with feeding assistance during meals and snacks & supporting students with daily routines to help create a safe and structured environment. I have also provided educational support by working one-on-one & in small groups to help students meet academic goals, follow individualized learning plans, improve communication skills & build independence in the classroom. In addition, I have experience providing social and emotional support by helping students regulate emotions, peer interactions, develop coping skills & feel confident & supported. Working in ASD classrooms has taught me patience, flexibility, strong communication skills & the importance of creating a calm, inclusive, and supportive environment.
